A year of videos

Today is a special day for me. A year ago, I shared my first video ever. Here I will talk about the awesome year that followed.

TLDR: This year has been awesome. I may have created only 22 videos but thanks to this I have met so many amazing people that I am glad that I started with it. :) 

I am glad and honored to say that I know each other with Inks, Deroir, MightyTeapot, Chargwyl, Deany Kong, Bootspur, Choxie, Shiryuku, Bobby Stein, Peter Fries, Chris Whiteside, Roy Cronacher, Krewfilms, Corvus, Kriss, Khai and many, many others :)

I started with this because I thought that we have so many epic moments in Guild Wars 2 and there are so many epic songs, so why not to make epic videos? It was amateurish and Sony Vegas made it oversaturated, but it was mine.

After this, I have exchanged Sony Vegas for Adobe Premiere Pro and have been working with it until now.

A month after the first video, I have published my longest video so far. It has 6,5 minutes and the feedback from it persuaded me to continue. Even Chris Whiteside saw it and I am still very honored. In this video I have recapped the first season of the Living world.

The third video was my first try in festival trailers. It surprised me how many people have seen it.  And it has a little twist in the end. ;)

Zhaitan is one of the most original dragons I have ever seen. The fight with him... not so much. So I tried to make it look better.

A month after I felt that I didn't do season 2 a proper justice with the first video. So I made a new one called A Danger from Maguuma. This one required quite a lot of working on details but it still is one of my favourites.

Since I started, I wanted to make a video about the Destiny's Edge. I love the Edge of Destiny book. So I decided to use one of my favorite orchestral songs from Two Steps from Hell - Calamity. 

I love the art of Guild Wars 2. Many cutscenes have it implemented. So I made a tribute for the amazing art creators of Guild Wars 2.

Another festival was approaching - Wintersday! Many people were ranting about it even before it started, because many people thought that we won't have any festival because of destroyed Lion's Arch. So I made a festival trailer with a surprise where I made fun of it. It was a little bit controversial because some people thought that I was misinforming others. :D

Meanwhile, I was contacted by Deany Kong with a machinima collaboration offer - Black Lion Theatre Company. I was excited! I even made a teaser for it. It didn't show anything except an awesome Evon intro so many people disliked it. But it served its purpose.

After months we finally finished it and it is sooo awesome! Love it. Even Weird Al retweeted it :)

After this I got a really awesome idea. Why not make a FRIENDS intro with Destiny's Edge? I am really proud of this idea and of this video, it became pretty famous and was my first 10K view video.

Previous video has inspired me to do more. Why not the trailer for a movie remade with Guild Wars 2 cutscenes? This is how Guardians of Galaxy went Tyria style!

It was December, we were waiting for the last episodes of season 2 that were postponed and I was thinking about an opinion that Anet doesn't build new things, only destroys the old. So I made a video with all the destruction that happened after the death of Zhaitan. I did not bother with doing much and it surprisingly got much more views than ordinary one.

Season 2 final episode was approaching and I made a hype trailer for it. Some people took it too seriously and told bad things and downvoted the shit out of it but it still was a good one and I was hyped even more :)

After the end of Season 2 I've decided to make something different. I wanted to make a video for the whole season 2 like I did for season 1 but I let people decide which song I would choose.

Then the expansion was announced and I found out that Rytlock fits easily into the Dark Knight Rises trailer. I don't know how but this video had some insanely amazing lipsyncing :D

Some time ago, Bobby Stein has jokingly suggested me that I can use his band's music. (They are great BTW - Boss Jim Gettys, go check them out) He didn't expect that I would take it seriously and after some time I made a music video. It was the first time I had a new PC, so I was capturing the footage for the first time. 

GTA V's release date was approaching and I liked their trailers a lot. So I remade it again and it has even outrun FRIENDS video with the view count. This was also the time when I started doing my own thumbnails.

I don't spend much time in Orr. When I decided to visit, it instantly reminded me of OK Go's song No Sign of Life. I just had to do it :)

Lion's Arch was finally rebuilt and Deroir and Inks have persuaded me to create my own video tribute for it.

My first and most important plan for the first beta weekend was to capture some good footage of Verdant Brink and make a video of it. I finally found out the right controls, tricks and movement for the good capture.

And that's it! I'm looking forward to the next year! I don't have as much time as I used to, but I don't plan to stop with videomaking ;)
